Once, when I was living in Italy, married, raising two very young children, struggling to earn a living while developing an emerging sculpture career, working harder than I'd ever experienced and here, as a "type A" personality in a "type B" culture, I received a cheerful letter from a well-meaning friend-of-a-friend in America, blithely asking how I was enjoying my Italian idyll.
