Background

"Temptation"

If you ever have the opportunity to listen to Tom Waits' "Temptation" (Act 1, #4 on the album "Frank's Wild Years") you'll get an idea of what this sculpture is about. And if you read the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas you will come across the following: "If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you".

Will you play it safe or walk through the curtain? What do you really want to do? This question is older than the classical architecture that frames the curtain and covers more subjects than we could possibly ever open, let alone resolve. But this sculpture asks you to think about the various prohibitions and freedoms that, throughout history, different societies have either inflicted upon or given to their population. And consider the same prohibitions and freedoms at a different scale (musical, architectural, personal) that we individually hold or give to ourselves.
