"Sublimation"

This sculpture presents a variation on the theme of Shakespeare's character, Ophelia. Here, she is not defeated and drowned but instead, alive, healthy and serenely swimming on her back in the deep ocean, gently rising on the broad shoulders of a huge, trans-continental wave. She has given herself to the ocean which, in turn, supports and carries her from one shore to another. So this sculpture is about transformation, as the title implies, moving from one life or form to another.
